Do you have what it takes to be a volunteer paid on-call firefighter? Interested in making a difference in your community?

Parksville Fire Rescue is a composite department of paid on-call volunteer firefighters and career firefighters providing fire and rescue services to the Parksville Fire Protection Area. Members are a dedicated and diverse group of highly trained professional women and men, who do the same job as paid firefighters. We believe the qualities of a firefighter include such values as integrity, honesty, selflessness, commitment, courage, family-oriented and hardworking.

The department responds to about 500 calls for service per year, ranging from structure fires to grass fires, from rescues and auto extrication to backup for emergency health services. The department also responds to complaints ranging from burning complaints to reports of hazardous situations, along with a variety of other public service requests. On-call volunteer firefighters are the backbone of fire and rescue operations in the Parksville region.

Here’s what we offer:
  • Opportunity to serve your community.
  • Great team atmosphere and sense of belonging.
  • Professional firefighter certification and education.
  • Additional benefits such as WorkSafe and life insurance coverage.
